In the middle of a friendly conversation the other day, my roommate and I broke into a heated dispute about candy bars. He was in the middle of telling me how he eats a Caramello every day at work when he claimed that it was "the best candy bar". Now I love Caramello as much as the next guy, but calling it the best candy bar? Isn't that a little over the top? I decided to be nice and give him an out: "You must mean it's your _favorite_ candy bar, right?" "No," he replied. "It's the best candy bar in the world." Seeing that he somehow truly believed his own outrageous statement, and failed to recognize that his opinion was far from meeting any objective or even popular standard, I demanded that we consult the public at large. The best candy bar, we established, would have broad appeal, delicious ingredients, and a variety of flavors or textures. While Caramello is delicious, fulfilling the second criterion, it lacks a variety of flavors and textures, with only two primary components (chocolate and caramel), and therefore its appeal is limited to people who truly love caramel, like my roommate. Those who like caramel may enjoy an occasional caramello, but certainly couldn't eat one every day. Snickers has broad appeal and a variety of flavors and textures, but while it sells extraordinarily well, the relative deliciousness of the peanut is debatable, and allergies to peanuts limit its potential consumer base. Reeses' Peanut Butter cups are delicious, but in addition to the peanut problem, peanut butter cups cannot qualify as candy bars by the strict definition. Plain Hershey's bars are delicious and loved by all, but they lack the variety of flavors and textures to compete with more highly developed candy bars. In light of these criteria, I propose Twix and Milky Way as chief contenders to the crown. I would gladly hear out alternative proposals, but those who disagree certainly cannot reasonably claim that caramello is the King. Diesel?
There is nothing outrageous about what I said. The posed question was \"what is the world\'s greatest candy bar?\" Now granted, not everyones favorite choice of a candy bar might not be the world\'s best in their opinion, however, I guarantee you that their favorite is on the top of their list for world\'s best. The general deciding factor of world\'s best candy bar is deliciousness. I think the caramellos has great texture and in fact, seperates themseleves from their competition in a way of juicy, flowing caramello. If you want to agrue Twix, Snickers, or Milky Way, the only reason people all over the world know more about this candy bar is b/c they are heavily advertised all over the world, where caramello is not. Therefore, some guy might just say Snickers, b/c to them, they have en ver even heard of a caramello, and when he\'s on his couch watching cartoons and a snickers commercial comes on, and he\'s seen this commercail often, he will say snickers is the best b/c he was brainwashed. Caramello is more of a specialty bar. You have tons of people driving Camry\'s and Accord\'s (Twix, Snickers, etc..), and not as many people driving the Acura TL ( caramellos). All these cars are int he same price range, yet the Acura TL is not as popular as the other 2. My point is that a caramello, like a TL, is a speciality and doesn\'t cater to the mass, yet is a higher end product. i\'m not saying by any means that the Acura TL is the best car, I\'m just strictly using 3 types of cars inthe same class range and price. Before you all vote, I ask of you to take a bite of all candy bars and then take a bite of a caramello. The last time you might have even bought a caramello was in your high schools canteen and I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. Obviously, in this arguement, it is every candy bar in te world versus the caramello, yet I still stick by my gut and so does the deliciousness of the caramello. Who\'s with me?
